Just a little while ago, I was sitting in a friend’s dorm room when I saw a table with a chess game on it, lit by a single lamp. I was immediately attracted to the soft lighting cast upon the chess set. I took out my camera just to take a simple shot and see how it would turn out. I used a very low aperture of f2.8 to get a very soft feel with a broad depth of field. I was so attracted to the lighting and focus of the first shot that I ended up taking about 50 more as I arranged the pieces in different positions. Absolutely no editing was done to these photos. I like the natural hue and soft look of them. It goes to show that simplicity can go along way. It totally makes me want to play chess again. I have not played in years! I used to play my dad when I was younger, but I would only win about 1 out of every 15 games. I had a hard time deciding which ones I like the best so I am posting quite a few of them.

    • I just took these in December. I just have not got around to putting them on my site. I did put up one of them in the “perspective” gallery of my website. I just can’t put them all up. If anyone has favorites, let me know and maybe I will post those to my website.
